Here is some information about our key staff members:
Dave grew up on a mixed poultry, dairy and cropping farm, and, with his family, grew cherries for 25 years .
He has a B Ag Sc, Dip Ed, Dip Bus Man, and Cert 4 in Training and Assessment.
His previous work experience includes:
- Managing a coconut/cocoa plantation in Papua New Guinea
- Agronomic research in SA Department of Agriculture
- Teaching pest and weed control in TAFE
Dave is the Managing Director of Smith & Georg, a trainer, assessor and project manager.
He has been honoured with Australian Horticulture Council’s Young Leader of the Year (when he was considerably younger than he is now!), ANTA’s Best Practice Project, and has been a member of the COAG’s consultative group on a National Scheme for Control of Use of Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals. Dave enjoys travelling, camping, hiking and kayaking; and trying to make his saxophone produce music (not at work thankfully!).
Linda grew up on an orchard, and with her family currently owns a sheep grazing property.
She has a Cert IV in Governance, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, and Cert III in Financial Services (Accounts Clerical)
Her previous work experience includes:
- Accounts for a machinery dealership
- Financial Controller for vineyard management business
Linda is the Business Manager for Smith & Georg, an assessor for Chemical Accreditation and Using Chemicals Safely and manages our registration as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). She is passionate about supporting primary producers, and she is involved in many community organisations including the Adelaide Hills Council.
Hugh had 37 years at Elders, in stud stock, livestock, Branch and AI division roles before transferring to Adelaide from Victoria. In Adelaide he had roles in Finance and Livestock before becoming the State Administration Manager for the Merchandise Division. From there he moved to national roles; managing procurement for business equipment, stationery, telephony, expense management, managing the redevelopment of the corporate office at Elder House and ongoing facility management, as well as managing accounts payable, data integrity, purchase order management, stock control and systems for the Merchandise Division.
Following this, after a period of semi-retirement Hugh had customer service role at a rural Sims Metal Depot and has also just completed a period as the National Business Development Manager for Agstewardship Australia & drumMUSTER – so he brings this valuable background to this role.
At home in Williamstown, SA he and Yvonne run some 100 pure Dorper ewes, so he faces the use of animal health and pasture weed products at home.
Rob grew up on a cropping and livestock farm; and with his family currently grows walnuts, beef cattle and quality-assured cherries.
He has a B Sc (Chemistry), Grad Dip Teaching, and Cert 4 in Training and Assessment.
His previous work experience includes teaching mathematics, science, chemistry and German at high schools in South Australia, USA and Germany.
Rob is a trainer for Smith & Georg. His passions include winemaking, travel and learning foreign languages.
Geoff has over 20 years experience as a grains/livestock farmer, and currently owns and operates a contract fencing business. He has a Diploma of Agriculture, and Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment.
Geoff has worked as a share farm manager, farming supervisor, professional footballer (you may remember he played 115 games for Pt Adelaide in the SANFL), store person and head grounds person and is currently an Online Course Facilitator for Smith & Georg. He has “a deep affection for the land, and utmost respect for the people involved in the working of our great country”.
Jeanette and her family grow beef cattle.
Jeanette manages the Chemical Accreditation program for Smith & Georg. She arranges venues for courses, handles bookings, prepares materials for presenters, and keeps records.
Jeanette enjoys time with her family and grandchildren.
Samara grew up on a mixed cropping, sheep and cattle property.
She has a Certificate IV in Financial Services Accounting and a Diploma in Accounting, and she is a Registered BAS Agent.
In addition to running her own contract bookkeeping service, Samara is part-time bookkeeper for Smith & Georg.
Samara’s passions include travelling and outdoor activities such as camping and hiking.
