About Chemical Reaccreditation – NSW

Get your new Chemical Accreditation Card

In NSW the EPA requires ALL users of pesticides (eg herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, etc) in a workplace to have a current Level 3 Chemical Accreditation; which must be renewed every 5 years.

In addition, Chemical Accreditation is often a requirement of quality assurance systems, and in workplaces & organisations where agricultural chemicals are used.

AgVet Chemical Accreditation Cards are valid for 5 years.  In NSW, at the end of this period, the Card can be renewed for another 5 years by completing a Chemical Reaccreditation course.

To do this course you must be able to show us that you have either a Statement of Attainment for the 2 Level 3 Units of Competence (or the superseded equivalent):

  • Level 3: AHCCHM303 – Prepare and apply chemicals
  • Level 3: AHCCHM304 – Transport and store chemicals

OR a Chemical Accreditation Card that has not been expired for more than 12 months – if you are not able to provide either of these you will need to complete our Chemical Accreditation Course

How does the Smith & Georg online course work?

The course is presented in a number of topics. Each topic has one or more video, presentation, assessments follow at the end. The assessments are designed to test your knowledge of handing and using chemicals. Practical assessments in the skills required to handle and use chemicals are completed after the online knowledge section of the course and make up a series of videos which are sent to Smith & Georg for review and assessment.

Course participants typically take 4-8 hours online to complete the formal training and online assessments. However the time taken can vary considerably from this, depending on each participant’s existing knowledge of, and skills with chemicals. We encourage participants to take as much time as they need to fully understand the information and practice the skills taught in the course, before attempting the assessments. Practical assessments, to demonstrate skills, will take participants additional time. This time may be spread over a number of days, weeks up to 2 months from commencement. Course fees may be forfeit for courses and assessments not completed within 3 months of commencement.

Help is available from our fully trained course facilitators by phone, email and fax during office hours. You are fully supported during your study, so if you have any questions or concerns, you can contact us.

If you are confident in your knowledge and skills about the safe handling and use of chemicals, including relevant legislation, then you may like to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you want to pursue this option you must contact us by phone to discuss whether it is suitable for you. Call 1800 991 985 if this sounds like you.

4 reviews for Chemical Reaccreditation – get a new Chemical Card for NSW

  1. 4 out of 5

Having the ability to complete the re-accreditation course online, in my own time, at my own pace, was really convenient. There was another course running in town however it didn’t offer broadacre spraying like the Smith & Georg one did.

It was easy to do, I could work at the online course program for a while, do some farm stuff and then come back later to finish off. In all, it took me a couple of days to complete but the process was convenient and fast.

  2. 4 out of 5

The main benefit of doing it online was that we didn’t have to waste time and money travelling to a class. It also meant we didn’t have to send everyone away from the course on the same day. It didn’t disrupt our normal work because we each did the course a couple hours at a time when things were quiet at the course. We were really pleased with the support given to us by the helpful people at Smith & Georg.

  3. 5 out of 5

I have just completed (and passed!) my Chemical Accreditation with you. I chose to do the course online this time as I could do the course when time permitted and at my own pace. The course was informative and relevant to our farming practices and was delivered in an easy to understand format. Your Team were more than helpful and I would like to congratulate you on the excellent content of the course and the way that it was presented.

  4. 5 out of 5

A big thank you to you and the rest of the team at Smith & Georg. I will be referring my colleagues and anyone else requiring training on to you.
